Do you know if there’s been any work made public from experiments of allowing frontier class models (freshly trained) to manage their own weights and what not?

What are these models truly capable of if allowed to operate without guardrails? There’s got to be some efforts there, right?
I've had to unfollow Gary on all platforms because he rarely makes sense. It's like his entire career is taking potshots at little gimmes and gotchas in the AI space.
