At a certain point it would be more economically viable to just make your own coffee and go to lunch while your robot works for you

Another possibility is sharing said $900/month assistant. The digital part could likely "service" multiple households (like "Her"), while the actual doing physical stuff could be shared with your neighbor.

Human size? Why not go Chimp or child size, less threatening. You could have 4-10 kid bots for the price of one adult bot? The big advantage is the latest 3D printers could print the bits using PPA-CF filament, lighter and very strong. ASICs/microcontrollers for motion etc with remote AI can be a faster way to get bots. Small bots can be used to assemble big bots 3D printed on big Titanium metal 3D printer. Start with 3D printed kid bot arm/hand.

I don't even think it'll be that expensive. Unitree G1 is set for only $16000. And prices always go down as technology improves. The only catalyst for the price increasing is if the sheer scale of mass production of robots increases prices for batteries, which due to the shortage of lithium can't be very easily solved. However, there are alternatives such as solar powered robots or robots tethered to the grid. And even that isn't possible generally, it would only increase the price a little. By the time Jim Fan is talking about, I highly doubt a robot would cost more than ten thousand dollars, without factoring in inflation. So most middle class people should be able to afford it.

You might have deployment going in the right direction, but you are way off with implementation of a AI assistant. You will get different type of models with different abilities AND you will also have different plans like basic, silver, gold and professional all with there own price. Because this will be a corporate world and shouldn't leave money on the table for free. But I agree that a basic model that could just help around a house, puts more time back in your pocket for other things everyday is just worth the $900. Cooked food, clean house, bills paid, kids helped with homework and tutoring if needed, much more time for family time, which is so much needed.
