I hope you are right. But I am afraid that the power imbalance that exists today will be amplified by these technologies. My belief is that we need regulation that constrains the power of the elite class.
Love it! This is the optimism that I like to lead with.
What is the use of CEOs and other elite management positions when the AI is going to do a bulk of their work too. A corporation should just have a governing AI structure.
We would need series of AI systems of various kind that are not beholden to elites. Right now there are many. But control entity like a mega-CEO, or Party state, will be interested in having AI produce results that only they can fully use. See Chinese LLMs. Or Elon’s too, however comical.
If AI will end up giving too much power to folks, control entities may try to resist. I hope they fail.
That posits the elite capture most AI and enough physical resources to actively block access for the rest of us"eaters" sufficient to keep us essentially too impoverished to progress beyond ANY need for them. If humanity's current value proposition of money = wealth = power alters much at all, that becomes impossible (not that they won't try, based on the current economic paradigm that DOESN'T have depployed AI).
The actual problem is not that more than 50% of the world's wealth is "owned" by a very few people, it's that value of that wealth is too highly abstracted from reality-why has data (or dollars) become more valuable to them than pretty much everyone else beyond a small circle?
Interesting question. French Revolution had one approach to the question. Fun times ahead.
